What causes this

These issues are usually caused by one of the following.

• Outdated software that has fallen behind what current apps expect
• A failed or interrupted update that has left the system in an incomplete state
• Storage on the TV filling up with cached data over time
• A manufacturer change to app support that the current software version cannot handle

What we do

We check the current software version and the TV's update history, then work through updating the system properly, clearing problem data where needed, and confirming apps and smart features are working again. If an update has failed part way, we resolve that first before applying any further updates, since building on top of a broken update rarely works. Where a TV's hardware genuinely cannot support a newer software version, we will tell you clearly rather than promising a fix that will not hold. Business premises running Smart TVs for menus or displays get the same careful update process as a home television.

Call-out or collect and return

Software upgrades can usually be completed during a call-out, since this work does not require opening the TV and can be done directly on the unit at your home or business. In the rare case a system is too badly stuck to resolve on site, we collect it, work through the fix on the bench, and return it once it is running properly. We will let you know which applies once we understand the problem, based on what the TV is actually doing.
